God's love is unconditional
It's easy to believe love has to be earned. You might feel like you need to be smarter, kinder, more successful, or more put-together to be truly loved. Maybe you've experienced conditional love from people—love that seems to come with strings attached or disappears when you make mistakes.
But God's love operates on a completely different principle.
But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. — Romans 5:8 NIV
This verse flips the script on how we think about love. God didn't wait for us to get our act together. He didn't require us to be perfect first. While we were still sinners—while we were still messing up, still struggling, still far from perfect—Christ died for us. That's unconditional love: love given not because of who we are or what we've done, but because of who God is.
One tiny step (≤2 minutes): Think of one thing you feel you need to "fix" about yourself to be worthy of love. Instead of trying to fix it, simply acknowledge it and remind yourself: "God loves me right now, as I am."
Short prayer: God, thank You for loving me unconditionally. Help me to stop trying to earn Your love and simply receive it today. Amen.
