Fear can be present without being in charge

Fear may show up before school, a hard conversation, or a big decision, but it does not have to lead you. You can trust God one breath at a time.

Fear can show up before a presentation, a difficult text, or a conversation where you might be judged. Fear may be present, but it does not have to be in charge.

The Bible says, “When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.” — Psalm 56:3 (read the passage)

Notice what this verse does not say: it does not say you will never feel afraid. It gives you a next move for the moment fear arrives. You can tell God the truth about what scares you, then trust that he is with you while you take the next right step. Courage is not pretending you feel nothing; it is refusing to let fear make every decision.

Take two minutes today. Put both feet on the floor, breathe slowly, and say, “God, I am afraid of ____. I trust you with this next step.” Then do one small thing you already know is wise.

God, meet me when I feel afraid. Help me trust you without pretending, and give me courage for my next step. Amen.
