You can be honest with God before you feel okay
When you do not know how to explain what you feel, God invites you to bring him the honest version of your heart.
Some days you know you are not okay, but you do not have the words for why. You may feel stressed, numb, frustrated, or all three at once.
You can be honest with God before you feel okay. You do not need to make your prayer sound impressive or tidy first. God can meet you in the real version of this moment.
Today's meditation material (Scripture)
- Psalm 62:8 : "Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge."
Pouring out your heart means you do not have to hide the messy parts from God. He is not overwhelmed by your questions or disappointed that you are still working through a feeling. Bring him what is true, one sentence at a time.
Tiny step (≤2 minutes)
- Set a two-minute timer. Tell God one honest sentence that starts with, "Right now I feel..." Then sit quietly and remember that he is your refuge.
Prayer (optional)
- God, here is what is really happening in me today. Help me trust that I can bring you the truth and do not have to pretend. Amen.
