You have a refuge when the day feels unsafe
A short Christian meditation for teens about feeling overwhelmed, finding refuge in God, and taking one steady breath.
Some days do not feel dangerous on the outside, but they still feel unsafe inside you. A look from someone, a weird silence in a group chat, a hard test, or tension at home can make your body stay on alert.
You have a refuge when the day feels unsafe.
Psalm 46 says, "God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble."
A refuge is not pretending nothing is wrong. It is a place to go when you need help. God is not far away from the moment that has your stomach tight or your thoughts racing.
Where do you need to let God be your refuge today?
Tiny step: put one hand on your chest, take three slow breaths, and quietly say, "God, You are here with me."
God, when I feel unsafe inside, help me run to You first. Be my refuge, give me strength, and stay close to me today. Amen.
