God is not waiting for a polished version of you

God is not waiting for a polished version of you

God is not waiting for a polished version of you.

A lot of us think we need to get ourselves together before we come to God. Be less distracted. Less messy. Less confused. Then maybe we can pray.

But Scripture says, "Come near to God and he will come near to you" (James 4:8, NIV). God does not say, "Fix yourself first." He says, come near.

That matters because real life is messy. Your thoughts are messy. Your feelings are messy. Your schedule is messy. None of that scares God off.

You do not need a perfect quiet time. You need an honest one.

If your prayer today is basically, "God, I'm tired and I do not even know what to say," that still counts. Honestly, that is sometimes the best place to start. God would rather meet the real you than a fake spiritual version of you.

What would change if you stopped trying to sound impressive with God and just told Him the truth?

Tiny step: Take two minutes, no music, no scrolling. Say one honest sentence to God about what is really going on in your heart.

Prayer: Jesus, thank You for welcoming me as I am. Help me come to You honestly today instead of hiding. Meet me in the middle of my real life. Amen.

James 4:8 (NIV)
