You Do Not Have to Sound Strong Before You Speak to God
You can bring God the unedited truth about your fear, confusion, or disappointment. Honest prayer is a place to begin again.
You do not have to sound strong before you speak to God.
You may not know how to explain what is happening. You may feel anxious about your future, disappointed by a relationship, or tired of pretending that a decision is easy. You do not need to edit those feelings into a more spiritual version before you pray.
“Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.” — Psalm 62:8
God does not ask you to bring a polished report. He invites you to pour out your heart because he is a refuge, not an audience grading your performance. Honesty is not a failure of faith. It is one way you turn toward the One who can hold the truth with you.
Tiny step: Set a two-minute timer and finish this sentence in prayer: “God, the part I am afraid to say is…” Do not solve it. Just tell the truth.
You can come to God before you have clarity, confidence, or the right words. Refuge is where you stop performing and begin receiving his care.
