Come to God Before You Feel Ready

You do not have to feel spiritually motivated before you turn toward God. Bring him your actual desire, even when it feels small.

You can turn toward God before you feel ready.

Come to God before you feel ready. You do not need a perfect mood, a quiet mind, or a fresh burst of motivation to turn toward him.

Some days, prayer feels easy. Other days, you reach for your phone, rush into work, or realize at night that you have barely looked up. That does not mean God has moved away. You can bring him the small desire you have right now—even the desire to want him more.

Today's meditation material (Scripture)

David does not pretend his hunger is already satisfied. He names his thirst and turns it toward God. That is prayer too. You are not performing spiritual energy for God; you are showing up honestly before the One who already knows you.

Tiny step (≤2 minutes)

  • Put your phone face down. Take one slow breath and say, “God, I am here, and I want to want you.” Sit quietly for 60 seconds, then read Psalm 63:1 once more.

Prayer (optional)

God, meet me in my distracted and unready places. Receive the small desire I have today, and teach my heart to seek you honestly. Amen.
