Your Ordinary Work Can Still Be Offered to God
Your work does not have to feel extraordinary to matter to God. Offer today's ordinary task to him with a willing heart.
Your work does not have to look extraordinary to matter to God. The email, spreadsheet, interview preparation, commute, or quiet task in front of you can become an offering when you do it with a willing heart.
You are not waiting for a more impressive life before faithfulness counts. God meets you in the ordinary work of today.
Today’s meditation material (Scripture)
- Colossians 3:23: “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.”
This verse does not say every task will feel exciting. It gives ordinary work a different direction. Your deepest audience is not a manager, a client, a crowd, or an algorithm. You can work honestly before the Lord, even when no one applauds.
Tiny step (≤2 minutes)
- Before your next task, pause for one breath and say, “Jesus, I offer you these next two minutes.” Then do only that task with care.
Prayer (optional)
Lord, meet me in the work that feels ordinary today. Give me a willing heart, steady attention, and freedom from needing every task to prove my worth. Let this small work be offered to you. Amen.
