Your fruit comes from staying with Jesus

You are not a machine for output. You are a branch made to stay connected.

Your fruit comes from staying with Jesus

Your fruit comes from staying with Jesus.

I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. - John 15:5 (NIV)

Some days you measure yourself by output.

The tasks finished. The messages answered. The workout done. The content posted. The spiritual habits checked off. Even rest can start to feel like one more thing you are supposed to optimize.

Jesus gives a different picture. You are not a machine for constant production. You are a branch.

A branch does not force fruit by panicking. It bears fruit by staying connected to the vine.

That does not make your work unimportant. It puts your work in the right order. Your life with Jesus is not the reward you earn after you finally get everything together. It is the source of the fruit you are trying so hard to produce.

Where are you trying to manufacture fruit instead of remaining with Christ?

One tiny step (2 minutes): Put one hand open on your desk, bed, or table and pray slowly: “Jesus, I remain in You. Let my next step come from You.”

Jesus, keep me close to You today. When I start measuring my worth by what I can produce, bring me back to the Vine. Let my work, words, choices, and rest grow from life with You. Amen.
