Encourage someone before your mind talks you out of it

A small word of encouragement can be real obedience today.

Encourage someone before your mind talks you out of it

Encourage someone before your mind talks you out of it.

Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing. - 1 Thessalonians 5:11 (NIV)

Sometimes you think of someone and immediately dismiss it.

They are probably busy. It might be awkward. You do not know what to say. You can do it later.

But encouragement does not have to be dramatic to be faithful. A simple message can interrupt someone’s lonely hour. A short prayer can strengthen a tired friend. A sincere sentence can remind someone that they are seen, not forgotten, and still being built up by God’s care through His people.

Paul does not make encouragement sound like a personality type. He makes it sound like a shared calling: encourage one another and build each other up.

You do not have to fix their whole life. You can offer one honest word. You can refuse the small lie that kindness needs to be impressive before it counts.

Who came to mind while you were reading this?

One tiny step (2 minutes): Send one short message of encouragement to that person. Keep it simple: “I’m thankful for you today,” or “I prayed for you this morning.”

Lord, make me attentive to the people You place on my heart. Help me build up instead of holding back. Use one small word to carry real grace today. Amen.
