Guard your heart without closing it
God can teach you a guarded heart that stays tender, wise, and open to love.
Guard your heart without closing it.
Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. - Proverbs 4:23 (NIV)

Some days your heart feels too available.
One notification can shift your mood. One dating conversation can start writing your future. One awkward meeting, one unanswered text, one comparison online can take up more space than it deserves.
Proverbs does not tell you to harden your heart. It tells you to guard it.
That matters. A guarded heart is not cold. It is cared for. It has a door, not a wall. It learns what to let in, what to question, and what to bring to God before reacting.
You do not have to give every opinion, fear, flirtation, disappointment, or pressure full access to your inner life. Your heart belongs first to the Lord. From that place, you can love people more honestly because you are not asking them to carry the weight only God can hold.
What has had too much access to your heart lately?
One tiny step (2 minutes): Put your hand over your chest and pray: Lord, guard my heart today. Help me stay open to You and wise with everything else.
Father, keep my heart tender toward You and wise toward the world around me. Teach me what to welcome, what to release, and what to bring back to Your care. Amen.
