Ask for help before you pretend you are fine

You do not have to perform strength before God; bring your need to Him honestly.

Ask for help before you pretend you are fine

Ask for help before you pretend you are fine.

Let us then approach God's throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. - Hebrews 4:16 (NIV)

A lot of us learn how to look okay before we learn how to ask for help.

You can answer texts, show up to work, make decisions, keep plans, and still feel thin on the inside. And because everyone else seems busy or capable, you may feel pressure to turn your need into a private problem.

Hebrews 4:16 gives you a better place to go.

God does not invite you to approach a throne of performance. He invites you to approach the throne of grace. Not after you have cleaned up your emotions. Not after you have a stronger plan. Not after you can explain your need in polished language.

You come because you need mercy. You come because you need grace. You come because help is found with Him.

There is a quiet courage in telling God the truth before you start pretending again. You do not have to exaggerate your strength to be welcomed by Jesus.

Where are you acting fine when you actually need grace?

One tiny step (2 minutes): Say one honest sentence to God about what you need today. Start with: Lord, I need Your help with...

Jesus, thank You that Your grace is not far away from my need. Teach me to come honestly instead of pretending I am fine. Give me mercy for this moment and grace for the next step. Amen.
