Give God your attention before the day divides it
Before your attention gets pulled in ten directions, give the first honest sentence to God.
Give God your attention before the day divides it.
In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly. — Psalm 5:3 (NIV)

Most days do not begin neutral.
Before your feet fully hit the floor, your mind may already be checking notifications, replaying yesterday, scanning the calendar, or bracing for what someone might need from you.
David gives us a simpler first move: speak to God in the morning, lay the real requests before Him, and wait.
Not perform. Not impress. Not solve the whole day in your head.
Just turn your attention toward the Lord before everything else starts asking for it.
This does not have to be long to be real. One honest sentence can become a doorway. “Lord, here is what I am carrying.” “Lord, I need wisdom for this meeting.” “Lord, help me not live rushed today.”
God is not waiting for your attention to become perfect. He is inviting you to bring it back, gently and early, so your day does not get shaped only by urgency.
What would change if your first focused thought today was not a problem, a person, or a screen, but God hearing your voice?
One tiny step (≤2 minutes): Before opening your first app, sit still for thirty seconds and pray one honest sentence out loud. Then wait for one slow breath before moving on.
Lord, You hear me before the day gets loud. Teach me to bring You my first attention, my honest requests, and my scattered heart. Help me wait with trust instead of rushing into worry. Amen.
