Let your soul get quiet before God
Let your soul get quiet before God.
But I have calmed and quieted myself, I am like a weaned child with its mother; like a weaned child I am content. — Psalm 131:2 (NIV)

Your soul can get loud.
Not always out loud, but inside. Too many tabs open in your mind. Too many what-ifs. Too much pressure to figure everything out, answer every text, fix your mood, and stay productive at the same time.
Psalm 131:2 offers a different picture. Not a soul performing. Not a soul spiraling. A soul quiet with God. Content in His presence, like a child resting safely with a mother.
That kind of quiet is not laziness. It is trust. It is what happens when you stop forcing yourself to carry everything at full volume. Before you solve the whole week, you can let your heart settle near the One who is already holding it.
If your inner world feels noisy this morning, do not start by trying to control every thought. Start by coming close to God. Let His presence lower the volume.
One tiny step (≤2 minutes): Put your phone face down. Sit still for sixty seconds and pray, "Jesus, quiet my soul before You." Then read Psalm 131:2 slowly two times.
Jesus, You are not rushing me, and You are not far from me. Quiet the anxious noise inside me and teach my heart to rest near You. Let Your presence become the calm place I return to today. Amen.
