Abide in Jesus, and you won’t run dry

When your attention is scattered and your soul feels dry, Jesus doesn’t offer a hack—He offers Himself. Abide in Him, and let His life steady yours today.

A calm, minimal still-life suggesting abiding and quiet spiritual nourishment in soft morning light.
Young Christian Meditation

Abide in Jesus, and you won’t run dry.

Some days you can tell you’re “running”—but you’re not sure what you’re running on.

Your schedule is full. Your mind is loud. Your phone keeps pulling you back. And somewhere underneath it all, your soul feels thin.

Jesus doesn’t shame the dryness. He names the source.

Today’s meditation material (Scripture)

“Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine… Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.” — John 15:4–5 (NLT) https://www.bible.com/bible/116/JHN.15.4-5.NLT

Reflection

Notice what Jesus doesn’t say.

He doesn’t say, “Try harder.” He doesn’t say, “Get your act together, then you’ll be alive.”

He says, remain.

A branch doesn’t strain to become fruitful. It stays connected.

A lot of young-adult exhaustion is spiritual disconnection dressed up as productivity:

  • doing good things without staying close to Jesus
  • serving people while your inner life stays unwatered
  • trying to “be a strong Christian” instead of being a connected one

Your day doesn’t need a dramatic reset. It needs one small return.

One reflection question

Where have I been trying to produce fruit “apart from” Jesus—on my own strength?

One tiny step (≤ 2 minutes)

The two-minute “remain” reset:

  1. Put your phone face-down.
  2. Take one slow breath and whisper: “Jesus, I remain in You.”
  3. On the exhale, whisper: “Remain in me.”
  4. Sit quietly for 30 seconds.
  5. Choose one next action you will do with Jesus (one email, one conversation, one task)—and begin it without rushing.

You’re not trying to force fruit. You’re practicing connection.

Short prayer

Jesus, I’ve been running on empty.

Teach me to remain in You today. Let Your life steady my mind, soften my hurry, and produce what I can’t manufacture.

Amen.
