Pause before you reply

You can’t unsend words. God’s wisdom is often a pause: listen first, then speak with love.

Pause before you reply

Key line: You can’t unsend words—so let God give you a pause.

Most drama isn’t started by “big evil.” It’s started by one fast reply.

When you’re hurt, embarrassed, or annoyed, your brain wants to win the moment. But Jesus isn’t trying to make you sharper online—He’s trying to make you more like Him.

Today’s meditation material (Scripture)

One sharp point: Speed is the enemy of love.

Being “slow to speak” doesn’t mean being fake or quiet forever. It means giving your heart a second to catch up with God—so your words don’t come from anger, insecurity, or the need to prove something.

(Optional reflection question) What’s one conversation where you need to listen better before you answer?

Tiny step (≤2 minutes)

Before you send any reply you really want to send (text, comment, DM):

  1. Put your phone down.
  2. Take three slow breaths.
  3. Ask: “Will this build up—or burn down?”

Then either send a kinder version… or don’t send it at all.

Prayer

Jesus, slow me down. Help me listen like You listen. When I’m tempted to clap back, give me self-control and the right words—words that heal instead of harm. Amen.
