God won’t roast you for asking

When you don’t know what to do next, you’re not stuck—you’re invited. God says to ask Him for wisdom, and He gives generously instead of shaming you.

A minimal still-life of a small compass and an open notebook by a window

You don’t have to pretend you’ve got everything figured out. Needing guidance isn’t a character flaw—it’s just being human.

Read

“Now if any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God—who gives to all generously and ungrudgingly—and it will be given to him.” (James 1:5, CSB)

Key line

God gives wisdom without the “wow, really?” face.

One thing to notice

James doesn’t say, “If you lack wisdom, work harder until you deserve it.” He says, ask God—and God gives generously.

That means when you’re stuck (friend drama, school pressure, a decision you’re scared to make), God isn’t waiting to roast you for not knowing. He’s inviting you to come close and ask.

One tiny step (today)

Before you open your phone for advice, pause for 10 seconds and pray:

“God, I need wisdom about ___ . Please show me my next right step today.”

Then do one small thing that matches what you already know is right.

Prayer

God, I don’t want to act like I’m fine when I’m not. Give me wisdom for today—clear, gentle, and practical. Help me take the next right step with You. Amen.
