God meets you in the ordinary
Key line: God isn’t only in your big moments—He’s with you in the small, normal parts of your day. One tiny step: do one ordinary task today as an act of worship (on purpose).
Some days feel too normal to matter. God disagrees.
One key line
God isn’t only with you in your big moments—He meets you in the ordinary.
Today’s Scripture (short)
- Colossians 3:23: “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.”
Short reflection
It’s easy to think God is closest when life is dramatic:
- a huge answer to prayer
- a powerful worship night
- a big decision
But most of life is… not that.
It’s homework. Laundry. Group chats. Practice. Dishes. Waiting. Starting over.
And here’s the truth that can steady you: God doesn’t get bored of your life.
He’s not only interested in your “future calling.” He cares about who you’re becoming today. Faithfulness is built in tiny choices:
- being honest when it would be easier to lie
- being kind when you feel annoyed
- doing what you said you’d do
- showing up again
God meets you there.
One tiny step (≤2 minutes)
Pick one ordinary task you already have to do today:
- make your bed
- start your homework
- take out the trash
- reply to one message you’ve been avoiding (with kindness)
Before you do it, pause for 10 seconds and say: “Jesus, I’m doing this with You. Make me faithful in small things.”
Then do the task—slowly and on purpose.
Short prayer
Jesus, I keep waiting for a big moment to feel close to You. Help me notice You in my ordinary day. Teach me to be faithful in small things, and let my life be worship—even in the boring parts. Amen.
